What to expect

Before and after

A good result starts before you arrive

Before your visit

Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area. Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for 3 to 7 days where your provider advises, to reduce bruising. Tell us about any change in your health, medications, allergies or pregnancy status. If you have a history of cold sores, let us know before lip, laser or microneedling treatments.

Aftercare

Your provider will send written aftercare specific to your treatment. In general: no strenuous exercise, heat or alcohol for 24 to 48 hours, gentle cleansing only, daily broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher, and no other facial treatments in the area for two weeks. Call us the same day about anything that concerns you.

How many units will I need?

It depends on the area and how strongly your muscles move. As a guide, the glabella often takes 20 to 30 units, the forehead 10 to 20, crow's feet 10 to 24, and the masseters 40 to 60. Your provider confirms the number at your consultation.

When will I see it, and how long will it last?

Softening begins in 3 to 7 days, settles by day 14, and typically lasts 3 to 4 months. Results vary.

Can I split a unit package across visits?
